Description of the organisationThe JRC is a Directorate-General of the European Commission under the responsibility of the European Commissioner for Research and Innovation. As a service of the European Commission, the JRC functions as a reference centre of science and technology for the Union. Close to the policy-making process, it serves the common interest of the Member States, while being independent of special interests, whether private or national. |

Role in the Project
ESTI has been the forefront of development of standards for PV since its launch in the late 1970’s and maintains an ISO 17025 accredited lab with a unique range of simulators for precision measurement of electrical performance. ESTI staff contributes extensively to IEC and CENELEC committees.
In the programme, JRC will take part in the CSA activities, and lead the task 12.5 on standardisation.
Key people involved

Nigel Taylor has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering. He is currently responsible for the JRC's internal projects on photovoltaics. He represents the SET-PLAN Information System in the Solar Europe Industrial Initiative. He is a topic organiser on standardisation for the EUPVSEC conference and task leader for the module and system performance in SOPHIA.
