CHEETAH WEBINAR - Advanced modelling of photovoltaic devices
Webinar - December, 6th 2017 - 14:00 – 15:30 CET
Dr. Ørnulf Nordseth ,IFE
Dr. Halvard Haug, IFE
Abstract
The efforts to improve the efficiency of solar cells take profit from the optical & electical modeling of the structures providing in this way an insight into the physics of the device to understand properly the way how to improve their efficiency.
Predictive models and design rules for all characteristics parameters of the device based on modelling solar cells in 1D, 2D or 3D are typically used. This webinar given by IFE introduces in the use of free and licenzed device simulators. It consists of two parts:
Part 1: Introduction to the free 1D device simulator PC1Dmod for Si solar cell simulation, including state-of-the-art physical models. Simulation of the important emitter parameters J0e and Rsh and extraction of surface recombination velocity parameters from experimental data. Using advanced 1D simulation as input for larger cell structures based on conductive boundary (Quokka 2) and lumped circuit (Griddler 2.5) models.
Part 2: Device modelling of three different solar cell architectures (IBC-HIT, Silicon heterojunction, and ZnO/Cu2O heterojunction) using Silvaco Atlas.
